The OSU Seed Laboratory was founded by Professor George Hyslop in 1909 in a small room in the agronomy wing of Agriculture Hall. In 1916, the Seed Certification was established, and became fully vested in 1937. In 1945, the Seed Lab moved to the Quonset Huts and resided there until 1989, when the Seed Laboratory moved into their current location on Campus Way.
