Building History

The OAC President's residence

Located just north of where Shepard Hall is now, this home had previously served as the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity house prior to OAC acquiring it in 1921. Both Presidents Kerr and Peavy resided in the home.  When President Strand started his tenure in 1942 and moved into the house, it had long been empty.  In 1947, with the construction of the new engineering building, Dearborn Hall, President Strand began looking for a new residence.  After the Strands moved out, the building was used by the Zoology Department as the physiology lab from 1950 to 1957. It was demolished in 1957.
