A color image of the Peavy Forest Science Center

Peavy Forest Science Center (PFSC) was built to replace Peavy Hall and opened in 2020 The PFSC provides classroom, lab, and meeting space for the College of Forestry. Its frame is made from wood grown in Oregon, and its exterior is made from acetylated wood. The building is the first in North America to use Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) with a post tensioning system that allows the walls to shift naturally and be more earthquake-resistant. Sensors have been installed around the building to monitor and study it. Just outside the building is an arboretum featuring native trees.
