Guide to Historical Maps in the Special Collections and Archives Research Center

A guide to the types and uses of historical maps in SCARC's collections

Collections

A relief map of Oregon with cities and highways. SCARC's guide to Local History in the Special Collections and Archives Research Center includes biographical sketches on cities in Benton County (and Albany), and curated lists of archival collections and rare books documenting the history of each city.

The map collections listed below include maps of Oregon cities, either as part of larger, statewide maps, or as individual locations (e.g. Metsker atlases, Sanborn Fire Insurance maps, street or highway maps).

SCARC's collections database - accessible using the search box on our website, with no registration or affiliation required - can also be searched by city to find additional collections materials documenting that city's history.
