This guide provides an overview of Valley Library classroom technology and some tips for technology troubleshooting the classrooms.

Calling for Help

In the Autzen classroom, make phone calls on the black, star-shaped Polycom phone (sitting on top of the equipment rack case) to the right of the instructor station.

Call Media Services (dial 7-3806) for help with:

  • CRESTRON panel issues
  • Projector issues

Call the Library Technology Helpline pager (dial 7-8989) for help with:

  • student or instructor computer issues

Call the Library Information Desk (dial 7–7293) for help with:

  • 1Search access issue
  • catalog access issues
  • database access issues




Admin password needed to install software

Use the generic logins

  Windows Mac
Username:  library\autzen autzen
Password autzen


 NOTE: If users log in with the generic password, they will not able to access their Z: drive

Instructor Computer Not Displaying on Screens

When using the Windows operating system...

If the image on the instructor station is not displaying on the six classroom screens, modify the Display settings using the steps below:

  1. Click on the Windows logo in the bottom left corner of screen
  2. Select Control Panel from the menu and then choose Display
  3. From the Display menu, choose Adjust Resolution
  4. Select screen #2 (the default selection should be Screen #1)
  5. From the Resolution drop-down menu, set the resolution to 1360 x 768
  6. From the Multiple Displays drop-down menu, choose Duplicate These Display
  7. Apply the setting and then click OK
  8. The screens should now switch over to display what is showing on the instructor station


Alternately, this process can be accomplished in the following way:

  1. Right-click on a blank area of the computer desktop
  2. Select Screen Resolution options from the menu
  3. Select screen #2 (the default selection should be Screen #1)
  4. From the Resolution drop-down menu, set the resolution to 1360 x 768
  5. From the Multiple displays drop-down menu, choose Duplicate these Displays
  6. Apply the new settings, and then click OK
  7. The screens should now switch over to display what is showing on the instructor station

Zotero - Cannot save items from Google Scholar

When using Firefox and Google Scholar, you may not be able to save items. This is a known issue. Go into Firefox - Options - Privacy and change History to "Remember history."

Computer (Mac) won't login

If the computer (in Mac mode) shows a red button next to the username and will not allow you to login, do the following:

  1. RESTART the computer and login again
  2. Alternately, login using the generic login for the classrooom (see the Classroom Overview tab)

Audio not playing on Instructor station

If there is no audio, check that both the computer and Creston audio is on. If that does not help, it may be that the sound output selection needs to be set to headphones:

  • Windows-Click on the sound icon in the lower right corner and select playback options. Make sure headphones is selected.
  • Mac-go to system preferences (under apple menu) sound, Output and select headphones
