The Order of Brotherhood, Inc. was founded April 4, 1974 at Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana with the mission of the "development of our academic, social and cultural minds" and "to perform a Black heritage and to teach that Black heritage whenever possible.".
*While the research for the creation of this guide did not produce evidence in our collections documenting a charter date for the Order of the Brotherhood at OSU, there is known documentation that the Brotherhood engaged in a variety of activities while active on campus. Examples included sponsoring a 1977 car wash (pg. 23, under "Special Notices" in the "Classified" section) as part of what was then called Dad's Weekend, and that same year, a petition (pg. 77) to the Black Cultural Center to hold their regular Sunday meetings at the BCC; a request that passed unanimously.
