Globus Connect Personal

Make a Personal Collection

Personal collections are tied to individual users and, by default, are private unless explicitly shared with others. Within a personal collection, users can upload, download, manage, and share files and directories.

Creating a personal collection does not require administrative privileges on a machine. However, you must have the necessary permissions to access any data you plan to transfer.

  1. Go to the Globus Connect Personal page. Scroll down to the Install Globus Connect personal section and click on the link of your machines' operating system.

  2. Follow the instructions to install Globus Connect Personal on your machine.

  3. During installation, Globus Connect personal will ask you to login to Globus. Use your OSU GlobusID.

  4. During the installation process, Globus Connect Personal will ask you to give a name to the new collection on your machine. This is how you will identify the collection associated with your machine within the Globus ecosystem.

  5. The installation should say the setup was successful. You can exit setup.

Confirming your personal collection is properly registered in Globus (optional)

  1. Login to Globus.

  2. On the left-side menu, select COLLECTIONS. Then check the box Administered By You. You should see your newly created personal collection listed.
