Evaluation forms and how to get data from them

Classroom Instruction

  • One-shots

Any instruction session that is associated with a course with a course designator and number (e.g., WR 327). This may include a traditional one-shot teaching session, a Libguide, participating in a discussion board or any combination of engagement with the course.

Seminar/Workshop

This category includes workshops focusing on presenting OSU Libraries Resources or Information Literacy information. This category is not for professional presentations (e.g., presenting at Oregon Library Association, Online NW, or ALA). Those items should be recorded in your CV.

Examples include:

  • Graduate Student Workshop Series
  • Undergraduate workshops
  • Any non-course related instruction. This may include presentations to the community if presenting about OSU Libraries resources.

Some examples of how workshops can be delivered include:

  • In person, in the library
  • In person, elsewhere on campus
  • In person, elsewhere in the community
  • Online, via virtual collaboration tools (e.g., WebEx)

 

 

Tour/Orientation

This category includes workshops tours or orientations focusing on presenting OSU Libraries Resources or Information Literacy information.

Examples include:

  • Student orientation week
  • Connect Week
  • High School students getting a general overview of the library
  • Graduate student orientations for targeted departments

Professional Consultation

Examples include:

  • One-on-one or small group
  • On demand

Some examples of how consultations may be delivered include:

  • Via email
  • In person
  • Via virtual collaboration tools (e.g., WebEx, Skype, Google Hangout)
  • Via phone

The audience for a professional consultations may include other professional librarians or colleagues as well as faculty and students asking for research assistance. 

Input Forms

To record your statistics

  1. Log into LibInsight
  2. Click "Record Data" on the top menu bar
  3. Choose a dataset from the drop-down menu in the upper righthand corner. The Instruction datasets (see definitions above) are
    • Classroom Instruction
    • Seminar/Workshop
    • Tour/Orientation
    • Professional Consultation
    • Learning Object Creation
  4. Fill in the form. Please remember to use the time/date stamp. This will help us track time spent teaching.
  5. Click on Submit. If you're doing more than one entry, click Submit and Clear.

General Guidelines

  • Use the Time Stamp to track beginning and end times of your instruction
  • Items with a red asterisk (*) are required
  • Enter your data as soon as possible after your instruction session. It will help you and LAMP get quick and accurate data at any time. And the Assessment Librarian will be very, very happy.
