Our purpose is to help institutions of higher education develop and sustain learning environments and programs suitable for adults.

AAACE publishes two of the nation's leading periodicals in education and training: Adult Learning magazine and the scholarly journal Adult Education Quarterly. AAACE also publishes books, monographs and booklets on a variety of adult education topics.

By providing advocacy, leadership and service for community colleges, the Association plays a key role in assisting the nation as it passes from the industrial era of the twentieth century to the new knowledge-based society of the twenty-first century.

At AAHE.org, we focus on higher education and academics in America. We believe that the education system has been an area of strength for our country over time and is a critical piece of our future success.

ACE is the major coordinating body for the nation’s colleges and universities. We represent more than 1,600 college and university presidents and the executives at related associations, and are the only major higher education association to represent all types of U.S. accredited, degree-granting institutions: two-year and four-year, public and private. Our strength lies in our loyal and diverse base of member institutions, 75 percent of which have been with ACE for over 10 years. That loyalty stands as a testament to the value derived from membership. We convene representatives from all sectors to collectively tackle the toughest higher education challenges, with a focus on improving access and preparing every student to succeed.

The American Educational Research Association (AERA), a national research society, strives to advance knowledge about education, to encourage scholarly inquiry related to education, and to promote the use of research to improve education and serve the public good.

The Commission on Adult Basic Education publishes Adult Basic Education: An Interdisciplinary Journal for Adult Literacy Educators three times per year (spring, summer, and fall).

Our history includes the development of the original Continuing Education Unit (CEU) and creation and maintenance of the ANSI/IACET Standard for Continuing Education and Training. IACET uses the ANSI/IACET Standard, in-depth research on the learning process and a nationwide network of experts to help continuing education and training providers to develop a framework for continuous improvement and a superior learning experience.

LDA visualizes a world in which all individuals with learning disabilities are empowered to thrive and participate fully in society; the incidence of learning disabilities is reduced; and learning disabilities are universally understood and effectively addressed. LDA’s mission is to create opportunities for success for all individuals affected by learning disabilities and to reduce the incidence of learning disabilities in future generations

Since its inception, NASDAE (formerly NAEPDC) has established itself as a major force in the adult education community. NASDAE works with the Department of Education Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education (OCTAE), the Coalition for Adult Basic Education (COABE), the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA), the Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL), the National Governors Association (NGA), the National Center for Adult Literacy, the National Coalition for Literacy, and other national organizations in planning for programs and activities to support adult learning initiatives.

NAASLN is an association for those who serve adults with special learning needs. NAASLN members include educators, trainers, employers and human service providers. NAASLN advocates for adults with special learning needs in national policy, legislation, and funding; provides professional development and technical assistance; disseminates relevant information and research; increases awareness of the holistic nature and best practices for serving adults with special learning needs; and promotes best practices for effective services.

VALUE is a national organization of adult learners. VALUE’s mission is to expand the role of adult learners in adult literacy efforts in the United States. VALUE has five key targets: recruitment of new learners, retention of learners, resource development, reforming education by getting involved in their adult education programs, and research.
