Students and staff now have full access to NYTimes.com and NYT mobile apps, thanks to our OSU Libraries shared subscription!

NYTimes.com covers a variety of topics with unsurpassed quality and depth through breaking news articles, blogs, videos and interactive features. In addition, you will be able to share content on social networks, save articles of interest, subscribe to email newsletters and set up personalized alerts. Your access to NYTimes.com is available from any location, on or off campus.

Getting Started / Activate Your Pass

To activate your Pass for access to NYTimes.com, please follow these steps:

  • While off campus: visit NYT My Account page Click on the blue button that says "Create Account"

Follow the simple instructions, remembering to use your campus email when setting up your account. 

Once activated, you can login from any location. This account must be renewed annually.

 

FAQ

Q: I already have a paid subscription, how can I get access through the OSU Libraries subscription?

A: You must contact NYT at 1-800-591-9233 or 1-800-698‑4637 and ask that your current subscription be canceled before you will be able to activate your account under the OSU Libraries' subscription.

Q: Why can’t I log in?

A: You must first activate your account from OSU's network by using the group pass link to create an account.

Q: How do I reactivate my account?

A: Staff and faculty are required to reactivate their account every 365 days.

  1. Navigate to accessnyt.com
  2. Search for and click the listing for Oregon State University
  3. If you are on campus, click "here"; if you are off campus click "go".
  4. Click "Already have an account? Log in here" link

If you're connecting from off-campus, you may have to log in through the proxy server.

Q: Why am I asked to login on some occasions and not others?

A: Your browser cache or history may have cleared itself. Go to NYTimes.com and log back in.

Q: Does the OSU Libraries NYT subscription have any restrictions?

A: Yes.

  • You must have a valid Oregon State University email address to register.
  • Our access doesn't include e-reader editions, Premium Crosswords, Times Insider or The New York Times Crosswords apps. Apps are not supported on all devices.
  • Because of certain copyright restrictions, access to archived articles within the date range 1923-1980 is limited. Within this date range, you may only open 5 PDF articles per day.

New York Times in Education

As part of our access to the New York Times online, you also get access to the New York Times in Education. This is a new resource to help both educators and students make the most of NYTimes.com’s digital 24/7 content. New content and teaching resources are added to this site on a weekly basis by Faculty Contributors from a variety of institutions.

This site requires a separate registration from your NYTimes Online registration. Simply follow the instructions below to get started.

 

Registration

  • Go to http://nytimesineducation.com.
  • Click "Register" found in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Enter your Oregon State University email address.
  • Complete the registration form.
  • You should see a "Welcome" page when you have registered
