ALERT: EndNote for Mac: mac OS Catalina Compatibility! (10/2019)

With the Apple release of macOS 10.15 Catalina this fall, Apple has made the decision to drop all 32-bit application support with this release. This decision WILL impact EndNote for Mac users!

EndNote X9 for macOS has been extensively updated for compatibility with Catalina. If you already have EndNote X9, please read the full post from EndNote about installing updates to avoid interruption in your workflow.

If you are running EndNote X8 or earlier, EndNote recommends upgrading to EndNote X9  (free ($0) for OSU grad students; fee ($) for OSU faculty/staff) as your current version will not work with macOS Catalina. Alternately, you may keep working on your current macOS version but upgrading to Catalina is not recommended.

EndNote FREE for OSU students! (1/4/2017)

Full details about access to EndNote for all OSU users is on the Information Services Software license page. Please contact Uta Hussong-Christian at the Valley Library with any questions about installing or setting up or using EndNote.

  • OSU students can download EndNote for free (use the self-service option to download the software).
  • OSU faculty and staff must purchase an annual license (form at bottom of page) via an OSU index or payment by check to access EndNote .

Users with OSU-licensed EndNote X7 (or older) can continue using that version with no annual fee.

EndNote Library Sharing (updated 12/2016)

Beginning with EndNote X7.2x, users can share their EndNote library with collaborators. EndNote X8 users can share with up to 100 collaborators (each with EndNote X7.2x or X8), and EndNote X7.2x users can share with up to 14 collaborators. Each collaborator must also have or set up an EndNote online account.

No EndNote at Beaver Store (8/2014)

As of August 1, 2014, the current version of EndNote is no longer available at the OSU Beaver Store.

EndNote X7, the current version of EndNote can be purchased via the College of Science Software & Site Licensing Program. If you are a current EndNote customer via this program, you will be notified whenever new versions are available. If you are new to EndNote, new versions generally become available in late summer.

EndNote for iPad is here (1/2013)

Be mobile and productive with EndNote for iPad.

EndNote and Word Track Changes

EndNote and the Track Changes functionality in Word do not always play nicely together. To avoid issues with duplicate in-text references, make sure that the Track Changes option is set to show "Final" (NOT "Final: Show Markup"). Alternately, turn off Track Changes completely.

Little EndNote How-to Book

The Little EndNote How-to Book is available as a PDF file (on right side of linked webpage) and is described as "a little book of instructions for specific tasks" including:

  • Using Direct Export from online databases
  • Importing PDF files
  • Migrating from Reference Manager to EndNote
  • Using Cite While You Write on either Windows or Mac
  • and more...

The book will be updated on a regular basis.
