Anyone is welcome to use the OSU Libraries. The Valley Library and the College of Veterinary Medicine Library are located on the main OSU campus in Corvallis. The Guin Library is in Newport at the Hatfield Marine Science Center and the Cascades Branch Campus in Bend shares a library with the Central Oregon Community College.
We have public access computers where you can search our library catalog and access the online databases. You can get research help at the reference desk.
For borrowing privileges, you will need a library card.
You can also contact the staff at the OSU's McDowell Library (College of Veterinary Medicine) directly by phone at (541) 737-6782 or email.
You may also use the Answerland chat service. The online service is staffed by librarians from all over Oregon and is available to all Oregon residents.
Due to licensing restrictions, we can only make the online databases available off-campus to OSU faculty, students and staff. You may use the databases in the libraries.
The McDowell Library at the College of Veterinary Medicine provides copies of journals article from its collection to OSU College of Veterinary Medicine alumni and veterinarians practicing in Oregon. Please fill out the request form or contact the library at firstname.lastname@example.org or (541) 737-6782 for more information.
To borrow books and other materials from OSU Libraries or other libraries, you need to go through your local public library.
The staff there will be willing and able to help find what you need. Check with them regarding borrowing and interlibrary loan privileges. Some libraries may charge for interlibrary loan services.
Your local public library is a great source for information, resources, and research assistance. Please contact your local public library to find out about borrowing priviledges and other services available to community members.
