Data Privacy Week (January 27-31) is an opportunity to deepen your knowledge about data privacy. In 2025, Valley Library hosted the following events -- all events are free and open to all.

  • Privacy Roundup, Tuesday 1/28, 2-4PM on the Main Floor -- visit stations with different privacy activities, and privacy-themed door prizes. Participating organizations include the Center for Advocacy, Prevention, and Education; the Office of Information Security; Women in Cybersecurity; OSU Security Club; and the Hack-a-Thon Club.
  • Coded Bias Film night, Wednesday, 1/29, 6-8pm, Autzen Classroom Watch the documentary Coded Bias, which explores how AI algorithms reflect social biases in unexpected ways. Features researchers Joy Buolamwini, Timnit Gebru, Cathy O'Neil and others. Snacks provided!
  • AI Coffee Klatch, Friday 1/31, 2PM. Book discussion of How Data Happened: A History from the Age of Reason to the Age of Algorithms. Registration is required.
