How can I make my search more specific?

1Search includes many types of resources so you will very likely need to limit your search results. Note all the facets on the right side, as well as some quick limiters at the top. Useful limiters and facets on the right-hand side to refine your search:

Availability - limit to what is in the OSU Libraries' collection

Resource Type -- to limit to books, audiovisual (for DVDs, CDs, etc.)

Publication Date-- to limit your results published within a specific time

Specific databases recommended by your librarian

JSTOR
An archival collection of journal articles that includes titles in the humanities, social sciences and sciences. In most cases the archives end 2 to 5 years before the current issue of the journal. OSU Libraries subscribes to all JSTOR Archive Collections, JSTOR Primary Sources Collections, and JSTOR Global Plants.
Project Muse
An interdisciplinary collection of high quality, peer reviewed journals.
MLA International Bibliography with Fulltext (EBSCOhost)
An index of journal articles, books and dissertations. The Bibliography dates back to 1963 and contains over 1.5 million citations from more than 4,400 journals and series. Coverage is international and subjects include literature, language and linguistics, folklore, literary theory & criticism, dramatic arts, as well as the historical aspects of printing and publishing. 1926-present.
Periodicals Archive Online‎ (ProQuest)
A major archive of backfiles for scholarly periodicals in the arts, humanities and social sciences, providing access to the searchable full text of hundreds of titles. The database spans more than two centuries of content, 37 key subject areas, and multiple languages.
