Creating and editing Wikipedia articles about books: Censorship

This guide walks Wikipedia editors through the process of creating and editing articles about books.

Censorship

"Censorship, the suppression of words, images, or ideas that are “offensive,” happens whenever some people succeed in imposing their personal political or moral values on others. Censorship can be carried out by the government as well as private pressure groups. Censorship by the government is unconstitutional." - American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)

If a book or literary work has been or is currently the focus of censorship efforts, it can be documented in the Wikipedia article. Remember that secondary sources must be used to back up the information, including newspaper, magazine, or journal articles. There are times you may use primary or tertiary sources in Wikipedia (refer to Wikipedia:No Original Research for more information).
