Elicit is an AI search tool specifically focused on academic research content. Use it to search for peer-reviewed literature, not to ask general purpose questions. Elicit's strength is in creating tables that help you visualize your research question.
Elicit is searching in open repositories like Semantic Scholar, Open Alex, PubMed, and ACS. They also search clinical trials registered on clinicaltrials.gov.
Usage limits - The initial search view in Elicit prompts you to create a research report. Research reports are like in-depth overviews of your research question, with analyses of your question in both narrative and tabular form. You can create research reports based on either 10, 25, or 40 sources. Because screening these sources requires energy, Elicit caps the number of sources each individual OSU user can extract from in a year. You can extract from a total of 600 sources in a year (the year begins when you sign up for Elicit).

Use the Find Papers option in Elicit to search for sources on your topic and then create a table of important characteristics.
Begin by considering Elicit's suggested prompts to make your question stronger:

Elicit will summarize an initial set of 10 papers based on your research question as well as create an initial table with a brief summary of each paper. Use the filters setting to focus your search based on characteristics like the SCImago journal quartile ranking, study type, or specific words found in the abstract.

Choose the Edit Columns tab to add more columns to the table based on your preferred characteristics.

Next up - add columns.
Next section - add your own papers.
