OSU Theses and Dissertations

OSU theses and dissertations are digitized and available in Scholars Archive. Limiting your search by Degree Field allows you to search by department, while Resource Type differentiates between theses, dissertations, and other genres. The Scholars Archive research guide has more information on focusing your search.

Theses and Dissertations from other institutions

Theses and dissertations that were completed at other institutions are generally not found in Scholars Archive or OSU Libraries 1Search. You have a few options for finding theses and dissertations from other institutions:

  • Use an online subject database, such as ERIC or PsychInfo, to search for theses or dissertations on your topic. Look for the field or option to refine your search to just dissertations or theses (the wording may vary)
  • Use the Theses and Dissertations guide for additional suggestions on how to find them.
  • Google Scholar is a great place to search for theses and dissertations because many are now digitized. Just enter the title of the work into Google Scholar. Many times, you'll find it has been digitized and is freely available.
  • Another option is to us PQDT Open. PQDT Open provides the full text of some open access dissertations and theses free of charge.
  • If none of these options work, place an Interlibrary Loan request and we will try and borrow it from another library. Please note that not all institutions will lend their theses or dissertations.
