Mendeley

This guide provides an overview of Mendeley along with training options, support and access information for Mendeley.

Get Started with Mendeley

Make sure to download three things:

  1. Mendeley Desktop - this is the main storage location for your articles.
  2. Mendeley Web Importer - this allows you to save articles online from your browser. 
  3. Mendeley word processor plug in, aka "Mendeley Cite-O-Matic" - this connects to Mendeley desktop to your word processing program. See the "Write & Cite" tab for more about using Mendeley Cite-O-Matic.

Mendeley Desktop and Web Library

Mendeley Desktop is a reference manager that allows you manage, read, share, annotate and cite your research papers. You can download Mendeley Desktop here.

You can also manage your references in the Mendeley Web Library, which allows you to access the items in your Mendeley library from any web browser. You can achieve many of the core Mendeley features (such as uploading new references, reading papers, highlighting and annotating) from any device with internet access, without the need to install any software. Make changes to your Mendeley Web Library by clicking on the "Library" tab from your online account.

Note: Remember to sync in Mendeley Desktop to make sure your changes are active everywhere you access Mendeley.

Install Mendeley Web Importer

Install the Mendeley Web Importer into your favorite web browser to import references and documents academic databases into your Mendeley Library as you browse.
