Valley Library employs about 100 student workers at any given time. Working or volunteering in a library is a great way to test out if librarianship might be a good fit for you.
All student jobs are listed here -- click on "Student Employee" and look for the Library under "Department." Student workers do everything from web programming to shelving to digitizing materials to helping other students with reference questions.
Many professional-level library and archives jobs require a graduate degree. This is generally a Master of Library and Information Studies, also known as an MLIS, MIS, or MLS. There are many programs that offer these degrees, including several completely online degrees.
