The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) is a Canadian corporation established by an act of parliament in 1970 to provide research and support for developing countries. Conduct research using the Resources tab on the homepage.
A project from the SUNY Levin Institute, Globalization101.org is intended to promote a greater understanding of globalization. The site includes expert videos, news analyses, and a look at globalization issues in depth.
The United Nations is made up of over 190 "Member States" and has four main purposes, according to their website:
- To keep peace throughout the world;
- To develop friendly relations among nations;
- To help nations work together to improve the lives of poor people, to conquer hunger, disease and illiteracy, and to encourage respect for each other's rights and freedoms.
- To be a center for hamonizing the actions of nations to achieve these goals.
The United Nations maintains a considerable amount of online documentation and information.
UNData includes information about crime, education, environment, finance, food, agriculture, gender, health, human development, industry, labor, population, tourism, and trade.
The World Health Organization (WHO) is made up of members of the United Nations. Health information for each country can be located on the WHO countries site.
